Hi! In this post, I’m going to tell you my experience with the new official LineageOS for my phone (Redmi 8a) & all of the other mi439 phones!
So, thanks to CAFEBABE and some more people, we have an official lineageOS Version for mi439 now! and let me tell you, it’s AMAZING!
But if I’m being real, I’m not a big fan of degoogling (trust me, I tried XD) and I’m a big fan of material you, so, lineage’s default apps annoy me the most, because they don’t support material you! and that feels like the default apps are not integrated with the system! (actually, some of them do, but most of them don’t.)
I could try other Gapps packages (other then MindTheGapps) like Nikgapps that replaces the normal AOSP apps with the google apps, but I feel like that wouldn’t work well with lineage OTA updates, lineage expects you to install apps with MindTheGapps, not other ones! maybe I’ll try it someday 😉
Speaking of OTA updates, one of the main advantages of having the official version of lineage is just that! For a phone that didn’t even get security updates after about 2 years, monthly updates and the latest Android version is really cool!
Annnnd, I changed some things with Magisk modules! the really noticeable one is the launcher, because I don’t like Trebuchet (Lineage’s default launcher), I installed the
“Lawnchair Magisk” module by Saitama
That is working pretty well for me 😉
My other modules are de-bloater, MagiskHide Props Config, and Universal SafetyNet Fix.
